There is no doubt winter is on its way. At the shop we have been stocking up on all the essentials to make sure winter passes with minimal fuss.
Heating a pond through winter is a good way to reduce problems with your fish and prevent expensive ice damage to your pipework and filter.
A simple to install heater such as this will be more than capable of maintaining a stable temperature and prevent fluctuations through out winter.
In general it is recommended that you allow 1kW of heating potential per 1,000 gallons of pond water. However there are many variables that must be considered.
It is important to consider pond insulation and to set the heater to a sensible temperature. Running a pond heater without adequate insulation or attempting to raise the pond to a high temperature could result in a costly electric bill.
We will very happy to offer help and advice at the store.
This year we have seen record Koi sales online and the interest at the store has been extremely good.
Obviously as the Koi season is winding down for this year our stock will become depleted. However if pop in over the weekend you might just find a bargain or two.
Koi ponds will remain open weather and stock permitting of course.
Hope to see you soon Lee.
